    Lamont Members of the Lamont Community Church served at the eastbound rest area recently. Upon investigation, the secretary of the Ladies Guild, Bonnie Swannack, found they have served there twice a year since 1990 and never missed the days assigned by the State Department of Transportation. When the group started doing this, it was necessary for them to make their own shelters because it was in the cold weather and too cold to be without some protection.     Lamont Brent Wecker of Napa, Idaho, son of Nancy Stromberger Wecker and Eldon Wecker, of Meridan visited with his grandparents, Dan and Jean Stromberger Saturday afternoon. Brent drove over from Moscow, Idaho, where he is working for 10 days to completely renovate a swimming pool at a fitness center there.     Lamont Kay Dirks, a person who was raised and spent most of her life in the Lamont area, was made Citizen of the Year in Sprague at the Sprague Chamber of Commerce Banquet recently. Upon retirement from farming, she and her husband, Clinton, moved to Sprague. She taught in the Sprague Schools and when she retired from teaching, she served on the Sprague-Lamont School Board for some time.     Lamont Art and Jill Swannack, Owen, Lea and Carmen left Jan. 15 for Nashville, Tenn., to attend The American Sheep Industry Convention. While Art attended meetings, Jill was co-chairman of the Youth Committee. There were 26 children from the ages of eight to sixteen and they were kept busy making rope halters, playing games, learning about parasites that affect sheep, learning how to grade a carcass and cut it up.     Lamont Lamont Community Church has a new sign to show the location of the church in Lamont. It was designed, made and installed by Tim and Dave Stromberger of Davenport. The previous sign that stood in this spot for many years was made by Bill Miller who lived in Lamont and was the last operator of the train depot there.     Lamont Three weeks ago, Pete Swannack was injured when a gear assembly he was working on let go. When it did, it hit a ladder that Pete was standing on. Pete was knocked to the ground and sustained a hole in his lung and three broken ribs.     Lamont Harvest started in the Lamont area July 21 when Mike Engles brought wheat into the Revere Elevator. On July 30, Mark Bowman brought wheat in from the Bill Swannack farm for the first load into the Lamont Elevator. As of this writing, 90 percent of the farmers in the area are harvesting, the wheat is producing average yield, and is of good quality.
