Lamont Church gets new sign

Lamont Community Church has a new sign to show the location of the church in Lamont. It was designed, made and installed by Tim and Dave Stromberger of Davenport. The previous sign that stood in this spot for many years was made by Bill Miller who lived in Lamont and was the last operator of the train depot there.

Dan and Jean Stromberger attended the 50th anniversary celebration for Don and Carolyn Fries Sunday at the Faith Bible Church in Spokane. Don is a nephew of Dan and a graduate of Sprague High School.

Maggie and Nick Phyhos from Arlington, Va., were Christmas guests at the home of Dave and Ginny Rajala. They both work in Washington, D.C. in government offices. They planned to return to Arlington Wednesday. Penny and PJ Phillion and son, Javin, also visited at the Rajala home over Christmas. The entire family drove to Colville to the home of Ginny’s sister for Christmas Day.

Christmas guests at the home of Jill and Art, Carmen, Lea and Owen Swannack were Tina Swannack from Spokane, and Pete and Sandy Swannack from Lamont.

Herman Harder was a Christmas Eve guest of Chris and Roald Tangevald in Spokane. That evening, they attended Christmas services at The Emmanuel Lutheran Church and heard Mike Bageant play a cello solo entitled “A Child was Born.” The son of Craig and Marion Bageant, Mike is a high school freshman and plays in the Junior Symphony at Spokane.

On Christmas Day, Herman Harder helped serve dinner to anyone who wanted to come at the Sprague Community Center.

About 15 members of the Stromberger clan were Christmas guests at the home of Bill and Jane Stromberger in Edwall.

Bill and Stella Melville were Christmas dinner guests at the home of Dean and Mindy Melville.

Nita and Matt Polda Dec. 22 welcomed the arrival of Nita’s daughter and husband, Chris Ann and Rick Bulcroft of Lugane Switzerland and her granddaughter, Anastasia Polda and friend Sean Boyle of Chicago, Ill. On Sunday Nita, Matt and guests spent two days in Spokane shopping. The guests drove to the coast on Tuesday to visit more family and friends before returning to their homes.

Betty Stone spent several days over the holiday weekend in Spokane and Cheney with her daughters and their families. All of her family members met Christmas Eve at the home of Patty and Sonny Ethredge.

The Kathy Shields family all met at the ranch Saturday, Dec. 26, for Christmas dinner.

Christmas Eve guests at the home of Don and Sherrill Nelson were Gary, Paula, Ryley and Nikki Nelson and Shari Bolden. The guests spent the night, and the next day Joan Nelson and Sue Wolring arrived to join the family.
