Anthenaeum Club Visual Art contest winners

COLFAX - The Anthenaeum Club announced seven winners this year for its annual Visual Arts Contest.

Members presented the five of the seven winners award certificates, some cash prizes, and a gift certificate to the Colfax Mercantile on Friday, April 5.

Coming in first place were Charlotte McCullow and Jacob Ward. Second place went to Hailey Demler and Trinity Swearingen, who were not able to attend on April 5.

Third place was awarded to Kamela Larsen. Nathalia Batterton won an honorable mention.

Athenaeum Club member Nancy Rothwell said that this year the contest emphasized intellectual and emotional content of submitted paintings.

"These student artists did an exemplary job of meeting those expectations," Rotwell said, "Thank you, student artists and Kelly Barrett, high school art teacher for helping make this event a success."
