    Dusty Fran Jones recently returned from her winter home in Arizona. She took “the long route home” having made a trip to Burlington, Vermont, to attend the graduation ceremonies of grandson Abel Jones, son of Bruce and Johanna, who received a degree in business administration from St. Michael’s College. Tom and Besse Cooney, who lived for three months at the Fran Jones home in Dusty, have bought a home in the Oakesdale area. On Saturday evening, a house warming party was held for them.     Jason Swannack of Lamont, has been awarded a $6,000 Orland and Bernice Killin scholarship at Eastern Washington University. The award is given to an incoming freshman with a 4.0 grade average who demonstrates scholastic and academic excellence. Swannack will graduate from St. John-Endicott High School this spring.     Sgt. Robert Kromm would have come home to Margin Street in Endicott to a welcome of hugs and joyful tears.     LaCrosse Norma Gibson, Mike Stine and Ron Hopkins participated in the Spring Special Olympic games at Eastern Washington University. Eddie Thompson was on the injured list with at pulled muscle sustained during practice. Norma won a gold medal in the 100 meter walk and a silver in the shot put.     Lamont Last Saturday, Owen Swannack, accompanied by his dad, Art Swannack, attended the Centennial Celebration of the Cub Scouts at the fairground in Spokane.     Tickets for railroad speeder car rides in the Potlatch and Palouse area are now on sale for July 10. The Washington, Idaho and Montana Railway History Preservation Group (WIM HPG) sponsors this yearly event to raise funds for restoration work at the Potlatch Depot.     The Council on Aging and Human Services encourages gardeners this year to plant an extra row for community food banks and senior meals sites. Suzy McNeilly, volunteer coordinator, notes many seniors do not get enough fresh fruits and vegetables in their diets.
