Make stop at scouting 100th

Lamont

Last Saturday, Owen Swannack, accompanied by his dad, Art Swannack, attended the Centennial Celebration of the Cub Scouts at the fairground in Spokane. Owen is in the Wolf Pack and next year he will advance to the Webelos. He won the award for the Best Design of the cars in the Pinewood Derby. Owen was especially interested in the FBI car on display for the Scouts to see. It had bulletproof glass and the boys got to hold the guns used by the FBI. There were many other things for the boys to take part that were fun for them.

The Sprague-Harrington girls tennis team did very well this year under the coaching of Liz Melville. They won the league title 10—0 and came in second place in the district. Saturday, two sets of doubles will go to Yakima to enter the State competition. They are Kelly Melville and Brandi Sweet and Candace Hansen and Kate Bouchard. The girls have participated against large schools like Lakeside, Freeman, and Chewelah.
