Noble sentencing order

Daniel Noble, Moscow resident who was found not guilty by reason of insanity when the car he was driving last Dec. 7 struck and injured two WSU students along Stadium Way on the WSU campus, will be under Department of Correction supervision for 10 years under a formal court order and finding filed Friday in superior court. The department will also be required to submit monthly reports on Noble’s supervision.

Friday’s formal order and findings were filed after a May 5 court hearing in which the court granted a motion for acquittal by reason of insanity.

The court found Noble did commit all five of the counts made against him. Also, the court ruled Noble still represents a “substantial danger” to the public. However, he will be allowed conditional release in lieu of confined treatment.

Noble was banned from driving, owning guns and consuming beverages with caffeine. He was ordered to take medications and follow mental health treatment prescribed by the psychiatrist or psychologist who is treating him.

After the May 5 hearing, Noble was allowed release in the custody of his wife, Kathy Noble.

The court has scheduled a review hearing for Dec. 17.
