    Joanne was born February 16, 1934, in Tekoa, Washington to Grant and Helen Smith Scott. She passed away February 11, 2024, just five days shy of her 90th birthday. She was the youngest of four girls. She married George Groom in 1953 and they made their home in Tekoa, raising six children. The marriage ended in divorce, and she later married Alan Knopes residing in the Colfax area.     COLFAX - Convicted child rapist and former Tekoa resident Carl Shelton, 23, wanted on a nationwide warrant out of Whitman County, turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on Friday afternoon, Feb. 26. Shelton failed to appear in court for a probation violation hearing, resulting in a nationwide warrant for his arrest issued by Superior Court Judge Gary Libey.
