Tekoa man turns himself in

COLFAX - Convicted child rapist and former Tekoa resident Carl Shelton, 23, wanted on a nationwide warrant out of Whitman County, turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on Friday afternoon, Feb. 26.

Shelton failed to appear in court for a probation violation hearing, resulting in a nationwide warrant for his arrest issued by Superior Court Judge Gary Libey.

Shelton pled guilty to second-degree child rape for assaulting a girl in Tekoa in 2020. He was sentenced by Libey to six months in jail and ordered to undergo several years of offender treatment as part of a Special Sex Offender Sentencin...
