Timberwolves win final game of regular season

TEKOA — With the regular season coming to a close on the 2023-24 regular season, the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves defeated the Dayton Bulldogs, earning themselves a spot in the district playoffs with the victory.

Tekoa-Rosalia were in total control of the game from start-to-finish, defeating the Bulldogs 62-28.

The Timberwolf defense did not allow the Bulldogs to score more than eight points in any of the four quarters. On the other hand, Tekoa-Rosalia scored 23 points in the first quarter, and 41 in the first half to shut down all hope from the Dayton Bulldogs.

Senior Vanden Allen led the way for Tekoa-Rosalia with 16 points in the first quarter of play. Brian Place added six more in the first.

For the second quarter, the Timberwolves would score 18 total points, allowing just four from Dayton.

Senior Isaac bone led the second quarter scoring for Tekoa-Rosalia with seven. Joseph Menga had five points as well as the Timberwolves led 41-12 after the first half.

Allen dominated the third quarter yet again for Tekoa-Rosalia, scoring 11 total points as the Timberwolves scored 15 as a team. For Dayton, the Timberwolf defense held the Bulldogs to just nine.

In the fourth quarter of play, the Timberwolves controlled the clock, took quality shots, but scored just six points in the quarter.

All six points scored in the quarter were from Allen.

The Bulldogs scored seven in the quarter, but fell to the Timberwolves by 34.

Allen finished the game with a team-leading 34 points. Bone would score nine in the game, and Place had eight.

For the Timberwolf boys, their season is not over, as they will take on DeSales in the first round of the district playoffs. The game will be Thursday, Feb. 8, in DeSales, at 6 p.m. A win puts them in the semifinals, a loss will force a loser-out match.
