Tekoa Empire Theatre hosts free movie

Theatre will show “The Parent Trap” Saturday night

TEKOA — The Innovia Foundation is sponsoring a free showing of the 1998 film “The Parent Trap” on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m., at the Tekoa Empire Theatre, 126 South Crosby Street.

The free event, open to everyone, comes with a free concession item per person and the chance to win a $250 grant to a nonprofit of their choice for submitting photos from the event.

Innovia Foundation focuses on historic theaters during February by offering free screenings of family-friendly films.

CEO of Innovia Foundation, Shelly O’Quinn, said that community is the Foundation’s heart and soul. “Our celebration of historic theaters this month underscores the importance of a vibrant arts and culture network throughout the region and especially in rural communities.”

The event is part of a series of events that Innovia is doing for communities across Eastern Washington and North Idaho to celebrate the Foundation’s 50th anniversary in 2024.

The Foundation has also launched online calendars for individuals and organizations to submit information about community activities and celebrations.

The calendar is open to any events within the Foundation’s region that are free or low-cost, family-friendly, and have a broad community appeal.
