    Colfax golfers posted a 434 team score for another team win Tuesday in a match at the par 71 course at Stoneridge in Blanchard, Idaho. They had a 47-stroke margin over the number-two finisher, Wilbur/Creston. Augie Allenbach finished first overall with a three -over 74 and Chance Weitze was second at 75. Other scores for the Bulldogs were Bennett Gray 82, Lorenzo Torlai 94, Will Dunning and Chayne Aeschliman each 109. McKenna Davis placed third on girls side with an 88 and Cassidi Shindler carded at 109. Next stop will be Monday at Deer Park... Full story

    With a sweep over Pomeroy April 28, the Colton softball team took the no. 1 seed from the Southeast 1B league/District Nine for the postseason. Now they wait to find out who they open the playoffs against May 12 in Medical Lake, where they will meet the no. 4 seed from District 7. Wildcats sweep Pomeroy Colton went to Pomeroy last Saturday, winning 10-2 and 8-4.     A motion to revitalize slow pitch softball during the fall was approved by the WIAA executive board at its April 22 meeting. League action could start next fall and a state tournament would be the following year. Slow pitch had been sanctioned by the WIAA, but it was dropped in the 1990s when interest dropped and a state tournament was discontinued.     A derailment April 20 stopped this northbound Washington & Idaho train on the grade above the North Fork of Palouse River.     A drug arrest in Colfax early April 21 included a new element: Dust Off. Jolene R. Boyd, 38, Clarkston, was booked into the county jail here at 3 a.m. Saturday on probable charges of possession of methamphetamine and hydrocodone.     An 11-year-old Colfax boy was arrested and taken to Martin Hall detention center by Colfax Police April 25. Chief Rick McNannay said the youngster was arrested for an alleged assault of another boy April 23 at Hamilton Park.
