Colton takes first in league

With a sweep over Pomeroy April 28, the Colton softball team took the no. 1 seed from the Southeast 1B league/District Nine for the postseason. Now they wait to find out who they open the playoffs against May 12 in Medical Lake, where they will meet the no. 4 seed from District 7.

Wildcats sweep Pomeroy

Colton went to Pomeroy last Saturday, winning 10-2 and 8-4.

In a tight first game through five innings, the Wildcats led 2-1 in the sixth when they exploded for nine runs to take the win.

Abby Kelly went 3-for-4 to lead at the plate while Taylor Thomas was 2-for-4. Additional hitters included Jordyn Moehrle, Josie Schultheis, Emily Schultheis, Rylee Vining, Addison Kinzer and Maggie Pluid.

On the mound for Colton, junior Emily Schultheis pitched all seven innings to allow three hits with six strikeouts and five walks.

In the second game, Colton took a 3-2 lead in the third and built with three runs in the fourth inning and two in the sixth for an 8-4 win.

At bat in the second game, Josie Schultheis went 2-for-3, Rylee Vining went 2-for-4 and Moehrle, Kinzer and Maggie Meyer each got hits.

On the mound, Josie Schultheis threw seven innings, allowing three hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Colton 18,

Touchet 3

The Wildcats headed to Touchet Monday and dominated, delivering 13 hits as Addison Kinzer went 2-for-3, Macy Smith went 2-for-3, Abby Kelly 2-for-3 and Josie Schultheis 2-for-5.

Colton led 9-1 in the second inning and built from there, the game called on account of the 10-run rule in the fourth.

On the mound for the Wildcats, Josie Schultheis pitched all four innings, allowing two hits with five strikeouts and six walks.

Colton 23, Garfield/Palouse 1

Playing at Garfield Tuesday night, the Wildcats went up 13-0 in the third inning and then scored 10 more in the fourth for the game to be called. Taylor Thomas went 4-for-5 at bat to lead Colton with six RBIs, including a home run and a double.

Katie Arrasmith and Kenzi Pedersen led Gar/Pal, each with two hits.
