    Bill and Della Evans joined their daughter Shann Webley and the extended Webley family and friends for a weekend at the historic Hot Lake Springs Bed and Breakfast in LaGrande, Ore. They relaxed and visited with the family and visited the bronze foundry and museum house on the property. Pat and Howard Morris traveled to Wenatchee Monday to visit daughter Angela Morris, her husband Larry Savage and their granddaughter Emma Savage.     Hooper Many of the Hooper youth attended the Palouse Empire Fair with their cattle projects. Lane Hannas’ steer won the purple ribbon in his market weight class and competed in the FFA Market finals class, where he placed sixth overall. Lane was awarded the FFA Champion junior/senior division and the overall FFA Fitting and Showing Champion. Abby McGregor’s steer placed second in his weight class.     Hooper An impromptu potluck last Wednesday, Aug. 22 celebrated the end of harvest and extended a good luck to Calab Hannas as he heads off to college at Walla Walla Community College. Hooper’s volunteer firefighters have been busy this past week putting out several fires, along with other Whitman County volunteer fire departments. Residents appreciate all the time and effort.     Hooper Keith and Carla Danielson traveled to Faith Equestrian Center in Snohomish, July 21 and 22 to conduct a two day Keith Danielson Horsemanship/Obstacle Clinic. They were joined by son Tim Mock and his family, Erin, Ali, Jill and Kate. Jill and Kate then returned to Hooper with their grandparents for a few days of vacation. Chuck Turbak of Mill Creek, Wash., the son of John Blair Carter, a Hooper resident who was killed in action on Omaha Beach in Normandy, came to visit the flagpole in the town central park that bears his father’s name. He was accompanied by Stephan Persyn, from Paris, France, who has been caring for John Blair Carter’s gravesite at Omaha Beach.
