Hooper Betty and Conly Merritt spent March 17 to 24 in Fort Jones, Calif., to attend the funeral of Betty's mother, Eleanor Iten. Hooper Members of the West Coast Spinone Italiano Club conducted a three-day dog training event in Hooper from Oct. 3 to Oct. 5. The Spinone Italiano is a wire-haired pointer that originated in Italy. The Hooper training event was hosted by Andy and Susan McGregor of Port Townsend. She is a former Hooper resident. Hooper McGregor Land and Livestock and the Hooper community honored Betty Merritt with a retirement party Saturday, Oct. 18, after 17 years of service as the bookkeeper and office person at the Hooper office.
