    Ronald Sande Ronald Allen Sande, 58, died last Thursday morning, April 16, 2015, at his home in Rosalia from congestive heart failure. He resided in Rosalia for the past 10 years and was in failing health for the past several years. In accordance with his request, his body will be cremated. Born Oct. 10, 1956, at Mount Vernon, Wash., to Jim Fure and Joan Marie Sund, he grew up in western Washington and enjoyed hunting and fishing.     Colfax Police Chief Rick McNannay April 16 said the arrival of spring has also led to the arrival of dog complaints. April 15 Colfax police responded to three complaints involving dogs running loose. McNannay said dogs are required to be kept in fenced yards or on a leash when they are outside of the fenced area or being walked. Dogs running loose in neighborhoods often lead to a report which calls for a police response. The chief noted apprehension of a dog running at large can lead to a $55 expense to the owner.     Dusty Colene Sager flew a Cessna 152 airplane solo from Pullman to LaGrande, Ore., last Wednesday to meet with an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner to take her check ride to become a private pilot. The final test is comprised of a two hour oral test and a one and a half hour flight. She has been renting the Cessna and taking lessons at Inter-State Aviation at the Pullman Airport to complete the needed requirements.     An eight-hour AARP smart driver class will be conducted May 19 in the lower level conference room at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center. The class will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:30 p.m. with a break for lunch. The class is designed for drivers 50 and over, but it is open to individuals of any age.     Palouse School will hold a free kindergarten and preschool screening Wednesday, May 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the elementary school. Children are eligible for preschool if they are 3 or 4 years old. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be 5 years of age as of midnight, Aug. 31, 2015.
