Who let the dogs out?

Colfax Police Chief Rick McNannay April 16 said the arrival of spring has also led to the arrival of dog complaints. April 15 Colfax police responded to three complaints involving dogs running loose.

McNannay said dogs are required to be kept in fenced yards or on a leash when they are outside of the fenced area or being walked.

Dogs running loose in neighborhoods often lead to a report which calls for a police response.

The chief noted apprehension of a dog running at large can lead to a $55 expense to the owner. The sum includes fees for licensing, if the dog has not been licensed under the city’s ordinance, plus an impound fee.
