A superior court jury last Thursday night returned a guilty verdict on two of the three charges made against Michael D. Cox, 53, Albion resident who faced charges of deceiving the state’s Department of Labor & Industries while accepting time-loss payments. The jury returned its verdict at 7:33 p.m. after getting the case for deliberation at 3:20 p.m. Cox faced two charges of first degree theft and one charge of second degree theft. Formal recognition of the work of Whitman County Deputies, the Quad Cities Drug Task Force and the Washington State Patrol was made Thursday in the US Federal Building. Pullman police reported Thursday that they arrested the business manager of American Travel Inn, Gurinder Kaur, 24, on probable charges of theft involving credit card information obtained from customers. The report by Chief Gary Jenkins said warrant searches were conducted at the suspect’s place of business, 515 S. Grand Ave., and at her residence. Detectives allegedly recovered items which were illegally purchased by use of the credit card information. Kara R. Foreyt, 19, Colfax, escaped injury when she lost control of a 2002 Honda Civic on Highway 194 south of Colfax Thursday afternoon. The Washington State Patrol report said Foreyt was driving westbound at 4:14 p.m. and went onto the shoulder of the highway. She over-corrected and the Civic crossed the highway and went off the south side at mile 15.6. Caihley L. Crews from Motley & Motley Construction returned last week to work on the intersection of S. Mill and Canyon. The crews installed handicap ramp sidewalks on both corners of the south side of Canyon Street to finish out the South Mill project. Consulting Engineer Munir Daud of Pullman said work along the south side of the intersection had delayed an official completion designation for the S.
