Motley & Motley returns to Mill

Crews from Motley & Motley Construction returned last week to work on the intersection of S. Mill and Canyon. The crews installed handicap ramp sidewalks on both corners of the south side of Canyon Street to finish out the South Mill project. Consulting Engineer Munir Daud of Pullman said work along the south side of the intersection had delayed an official completion designation for the S. Mill project, which was funded by state Transportation Improvement Board funds. A five percent retaining fee has been withheld until the project is declared finished.

Motley & Motley also started work on replacing a section of sidewalk in front of the city hall. The sidewalk segment was part of the N. Mill project which was completed four years ago. Daud said the sidewalk surface had deteriorated, possibly because of chemical treatment.

The failing condition of the city hall sidewalk has led to an advisory on use of chemicals on the new sidewalk along the S. Mill project. A handicap ramp for entry into city hall was also installed in the sidewalk.
