The Whitman County Planning Commission is conducting a workshop on the Ruckelshaus legislation and invites the public to attend. Ruckelshaus concerns agricultural operations and critical areas. We understand another attempt will be made to make a race between them. A huge crowd assembled to witness the race.     A petition to establish a guardianship for Jerry Townsend, LaCrosse area resident who was injured Oct. 15 in an ATV accident, was filed Monday in Whitman County Superior court. The petition said Townsend, 59, has been in a coma in the ICU unit in Spokane since the accident. Garfield attorney Stephen Bishop, who filed the petition, was named guardian ad litem for the Townsend estate. The petition asks the court to appoint Townsend’s daughter as guardian.     Anthoni J. Anders, 27, Lewiston, was unhurt late Oct. 24 night when the 2007 Hyundai Elantra he was driving struck a deer just south of Colfax. According to the Washington State Patrol report, he was driving southbound at 10:30 p.m. when a deer ran in front of the Hyundai about a half mile south of Colfax. Debra J.     Rosalia volunteer firefighters went through Confined Space Rescue training during the weekends of October 22-23 and 29-30. With the increasing need for technical rescue and the nearest team being two hours away, Fire District 7 commissioners approved the class fee and the purchase of necessary equipment.     Haunted Palouse wrapped up with another record broken. The two-weekend run, marking the 10th edition of the event, brought 4,251 haunt fans to downdown Palouse. The count was up from 4,098 last year, continuing the annual increase in attendance since the first year.
