Rosalia firefighters train for confined rescues

Rosalia volunteer firefighters went through Confined Space Rescue training during the weekends of October 22-23 and 29-30.

With the increasing need for technical rescue and the nearest team being two hours away, Fire District 7 commissioners approved the class fee and the purchase of necessary equipment.

The 32-hour Confined Space Rescue class was put on by Rescue Northwest and consisted of classroom time, hands-on training and scenarios.

The volunteers learned how to monitor air quality in a confined space and set up a pulley.

Scenarios were set up at the Rosalia School, Co-Ag grain elevator and the sewage treatment plant.

The department will maintain their certification through ongoing training.
