Mrs. Manchak, who studied art in Spain, received many awards for her art work in the Santa Barbara area. Born in Colfax May 1, 1932, to Joe and Florence Cronin Stravens, she attended St. John's Academy.     Palouse City Council member Bo Ossinger died March 20 at age 65. Elected to a second term last November, he was also a member of the joint fire board and Palouse Chamber of Commerce. For the city council, Ossinger was chairman of the Water and Sewer Committee. Born in Seattle, he lived in Port Angeles, and he resided in Palouse for approximately 10 years and retired from WSU's information systems department in 2013.     The 36th annual Palouse Patchers' Quilt Show is slated for the Latah County Fairgrounds this weekend with a 10 a.m. start time both days, and a 5 p.m. end time Saturday and 4 p.m. end time Sunday. As a guest, Linda Greenhalgh from the Endicott PTO reported on the events coming up and encouraged parents and the community to join the group, which meets the first Thursday each month.     Dusty Sunday morning, Country Bible Church was the site of a very successful soup bagging session for Homestead Ministries. More than 40 people helped bag more than 800 bags of bean, split pea and lentil soup to be distributed to those in need. Most appreciated were the youngsters who worked like troopers as runners.     Marking its new designation as a Tree City USA from the National Arbor Day Foundation, the town of Farmington plans its second Arbor Day celebration in the town park April 30.     The Port of Whitman County reported at its meeting April 7 the Boyer Park and Marina project is nearing completion. “They're paving this week,” Port Executive Director Joe Poiré told the Gazette Monday.
