    The nine school districts with levy propositions on the ballot Tuesday received strong approval from voters. Most of the propositions on the ballot were replacement levies for educational enrichment of operations programs now in place in the districts, but funded with expiring levies. Total ballots counted on the first return was 6,203 or 27.18 percent of the 22,821 ballots mailed out at the start of the voting period.     On Thursday, Brenda Stav, port finance director, updated the port commissioners on a collaborative project the port has been working on for the past few months in relation to ports on the Lower Snake River to join in signing resolutions on the dams.     On May 24, 2018, the Port of Whitman County made a motion to support Washington State Department of Transportation with its Consolidated Rail Infrastructure Safety Improvements (CRISI) and Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant application for rehabilitation work on the PCC Rail System.     Perkins house seeks help with foundation repairs

    The Perkins House foundation has deteriorated and needs extensive restoration because of time and settling. Cracks have been appearing in interior and exterior walls, and some windows and doors no longer open. Attempts to obtain grant funding have not been successful, so Perkins House is asking for financial assistance.     Workers at Colfax Junior-Senior High School began moving new furniture Monday into upper-floor classrooms, which are now complete as part of Phase Four of the $18.9 million construction project. “The big move will be on Thursday,” said Jerry Pugh, Colfax superintendent.
