Perkins house seeks help with foundation repairs

The Perkins House foundation has deteriorated and needs extensive restoration because of time and settling. Cracks have been appearing in interior and exterior walls, and some windows and doors no longer open. Attempts to obtain grant funding have not been successful, so Perkins House is asking for financial assistance.

An extensive evaluation by a structural engineer calculated a repair estimate of approximately $45,000. Perkins House is currently obtaining contractor bids for the work.

Whitman County Historical Society has loaned $40,000 to Perkins House so work can begin, but it will need to replace the funds.

Donations can be mailed to: The Whitman Count Historical Society Box 67 Colfax, 99111.
