Bulldog girls start NE run with big win over Cougs

Skylre Sakamoto-Howell flies to the bucket Thursday in the last league game with Liberty.

After being placed in a number-four slot for the first day of the long 2B hoop tourney at West Valley, Colfax girls cruised to a win over the Chewelah Cougars Monday and advanced to the quarter-final round which will go down in the books today. The Bulldogs will play St. George's, top finishers for the north side of the league.

The overall tourney extends to Nov. 22 and will wind up sending four NE teams into the next round of the state playoffs.

Before taking out the Cougs in the first test, the Bulldogs were thumped 83-58 by Liberty, the top finisher on the south side, in the season fina...
