Born Nov. 18, 1930, in Potlatch, to Eugene and Edna Bunney Cochrane, Charles attended the Chamber Flat Country School and the Potlatch schools. He joined the U.S. Army on April 19, 1951, and was discharged April 18, 1953, as a private first class.
