    Monday was an important day in LaCrosse. The LaCrosse Market was reborn. The town’s previous market closed a few years ago. Little hope for getting a new store existed. The situation was grim. A small, isolated town cannot long survive without a place to get the basics of everyday life. Townspeople and many from the surrounding area responded. This was important—too important to ignore.     After two heavy wins over the weekend, the Colfax girls Tuesday night rolled to Reardan for an all-out battle with the NE dominators on their home court.     Three Whitman County school districts are ranked in the top 10 in achievement in the state. LaCrosse School District ranked number two in the state for the second consecutive year, according to Principal Doug Curtis.     Snow began falling last Thursday morning and snow showers fell across the area almost all day. More snow fell Thursday night. City plows were out early Friday morning, plowing and sanding city streets. According to soil conservationist David Jones, accumulations amounted to two inches of snow.
