Colton girls ranked No.1, beat Kamiah

Colton solidified its No. 1 ranking for 1B girls in Washington state with a win over Kamiah Tuesday night, the team which broke it’s 37-game winning streak in December.

The victory lifted their record to 12-1.

Playing at home Tuesday, the Wildcats and Kamiah came out to a fight in the first half, with fouls and missed shots adding up to 10-8 score for Colton at halftime.

In the second half, Colton hit a stride, going up 17-10 after Raylynn Smith made a three-pointer and Jenna Moser got a steal and took the ball the length of the floor for a lay-in.

The Wildcats soon broke open a 12-0 run to take command of the game.

Kaitlin Druffel led the team with 13 points while Smith scored 12. Moser had eight steals.

On Friday, Jan. 11, Colton, the new No. 1-ranked 1B girls team in the state went to Rosalia for a 75-28 win. The Wildcats led 21-2 after the first quarter, setting the tone for the evening.

Moser led Colton (11-1, 9-0) with 16 points, while Paige Vincent and Raylynn Smith both scored 11 and Jackie Warner had 10. All together, nine Colton players scored.
