Anni Millard

Anni (Wetzel) Millard, longtime resident of Colfax, Washington, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019, at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. She was 87.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the Affirmational United Church of Christ (Plymouth Congregational Church) with Rev. Lynn Nelson officiating.

Anni was born on February 13, 1932, to Johann and Anna (Busalt) Wetzel in Weinheim, Germany. She met and married Charles Brawner while he was stationed in Germany, with whom she had two daughters, Rose and Alice. They eventually returned to the United States. Later in life, Anni married Don Millard and moved to Colfax where they made their home.

Anni's favorite thing to do was knit and crochet; she was famous for her slippers! She was also actively involved in her community with her handiwork and even crocheted baby hats for the NICU. She organized and was active in fundraising to purchase dialysis equipment for Tri-State Hospital in Clarkston, Wash., through the Clarkston Eagles Auxiliary and through her church for various community needs.

She was a very hard worker and would often work long hours. She loved to bake and cook, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church and was the Past Madam President of the Clarkston Branch of the Ladies Auxiliary Eagles Club. Anni will be remembered for her quick wit, sassy personality, generous heart and warm smile.

She is survived by her two daughters; Alice Horrell, of Boise, Idaho, and Rose Crew, of Spokane, Wash. Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren, Kevin, Jeffrey, Ryan, Eric, Liane, Teresa, Jim, Ben, Liz and Alisa; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Anni was preceded in death by her husband, Don Millard, her sister, Liesel Wetzel, and by her parents.
