Gloria Ann Hodges

Gloria Ann Hodges, 76, a resident of Palouse, Wash., passed away at her Palouse home on January 11, 2024, with her family by her side.

Gloria was born on April 6, 1947, at Spokane, Wash., to Raymond and Virginia (Young) Preusser. She attended her schooling at Asotin, Wash., graduating from the Asotin High School in 1965.

She married Byron Hodges on Sept. 3, 1965, at Clarkston, Wash., and the couple made their home at Pullman, Wash., for a few years and moved to Palouse, Wash., in 1972 where the couple has made their home since.

Gloria was employed at the Pullman Hospital from 1972 to 1990. Later started working at Washington State University at the Veterinarian Hospital from 1990 to 2009 when she retired from the college.

Gloria enjoyed spending weekends at the cabin near Dworshak Dam. She enjoyed fishing, quilting and traveling.

She was a member of the Palouse P.E.O. chapter AE, was the Palouse E.M.S. coordinator for 32 years, member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Farmington and Oakesdale, Served as Grand Representative from 2007-2009.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Byron, at the Palouse home; two sons, Eldon Hodges (Lori), Moscow, Idaho, and Chris Overfeld (Kathy) Medical Lake, Wash; daughter, Sheryl Smith (Chuck) Princeton, Idaho; sister, Peggy Adamek, Clarkston, Wash. Gloria is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Donald and a sister Donna Minden and one grandson Tyeson Hodges.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 11 a.m. at the Palouse Federated Church with Rev. Corey Laughary officiating. Malden Chapter #149 Order of the Eastern Star participating.

A covered dish potluck will be served after the service.

Memorials may be given to the Palouse E.M.S. or the Palouse P.E.O. Scholarship Fund.
