Jackie was born November 23, 1933, in Port Townsend, Wash., to Chester and Madeleine Gillett. She grew up in Port Townsend along with her younger brother Dan. After graduating from high school there Jackie attended Washington State College in Pullman. She met Donald C. Lust of Endicott while she was attending school. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in English.

Jackie and Don married June 25, 1955, in Port Townsend and soon settled on the family farm about 2 miles west of Winona. They raised their family on the farm and spent their lives working side by side on the land. Jackie was active in Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Endicott Community Club. She was also a member of the Lady Jay-Cee's. She enjoyed cross-stitch and playing cards. She was also an avid reader. Jackie and Don enjoyed traveling and liked to make the occasional trip to Jackpot. They rarely missed a sporting event featuring one of their grandkids and her family was always very important to her. She was proud of all of them. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and a favorite memory will always be "Grandma's waffles." They moved from the farm into Endicott in 1994. Don and Jackie moved to The Courtyard in Colfax in January 2011. He passed away in 2012.
