Dayna Kindrick

Oct. 22, 1986-Apr. 6, 2018

Lover of people, fearless warrior and free-spirited adventurer, Dayna Buri Kindrick left a hole in our hearts on April 6, 2018. It’s hard not to smile when thinking about Dayna even in this time of intense sorrow. She entered the world on October 22, 1986, in Vallejo, California, and brightened the world of her parents, David and Dori. She was a brave and bodacious child, full of joy, laughter and music; a true joy-bringer!

Her early years were spent in California and she gained a life-long friend in her brother, Jonathan, who was born when she was three. Her family moved to Washington when she was four, and she attended school in Colfax, Washington, and Moscow, Idaho, before graduating from Cedarcrest High School in Duvall, Washington, where she was “Outstanding Musician” in her senior year. She continued her education in California attending

Citrus College, then transferring to the University of Idaho where she studied international relations and Spanish.

Not one to sit still, Dayna began traveling the world with her heart full of love, her guitar and her

backpack. From helping manage a hostel in Ireland to working on an organic farm in Antwerp, she never met a stranger and always saw people as more important than things. Her spiritual journey mirrored her worldly travels; wandering, inquisitive, questioning, but resulting in her renewed commitment to Jesus Christ, trusting and cherishing his saving grace. Her faith had never been stronger or more of a guiding light than in her last five years of life. She loved unconditionally without reservation. Her joyful presence will be missed by friends across the globe and especially by her family.

Her greatest day was in January of 2013 when Madeleine Jean made her entrance into the world, and Dayna was famous for quoting, “Maddie is the best thing I’ve ever done!” They had a mutual love affair and were two peas in a pod; Dayna said parenting was the hardest and best thing ever. Not long after Madeleine turned two, Dayna was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and given 6-8 months to live. In her typical fashion, she joined with her

family and decided to pray, fight and believe for the miracle of seeing her baby girl turn 5. Her journey was not an easy one; yet she fought for each and every miracle – and there were many. The miracle of friends and family, the miracle of a shrinking tumor, the miracle of travel and the miracle of the presence of God.

She found the love of her life while fighting brain cancer and married Kevin Kindrick in February 2017. Although their life together was short, it was full of joy, laughter and love.

Her spirit will live on in the life of Madeleine, and she will be terribly missed by her husband, Kevin; and stepson, Liam; her father and his wife, David and Becky Buri; her mother and her husband, Dori and William Richardson; and her Grandma, Gayle Buri. She will be fondly remembered by her siblings and their families: Jonathan and Kelsey Buri, Jaap and Brittany Don, Brett Richardson and fiancé Spencer, and Paul David Buri; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. They will carry her love with them and share it with generations to come.

Memorial celebrations will be held in Colfax on Friday, April 13th at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church and in Woodinville, Washington, on April 28th. Dayna wanted her life to be celebrated – not mourned – so come dressed in color to honor her wish. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brazil Missionary Fund at the First Baptist Church or to Madeleine’s education fund at Hope4Dayna, care of Bruning Funeral Home, P.O. Box 739, Colfax WA 99111.

Joanne Kay Howard, devoted wife, proud mother, loving sister - passed away peacefully on March 16, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. She was 66 years old.

Joanne was born on June 10, 1951 in Spokane, Wash., to parents Merle and Vivian Fish. Despite complications from Spina Bifida, Joanne’s sunny outlook and determined spirit enabled her to defy medical expectations. She enjoyed a happy childhood, and graduated from Shadle High School in 1970. Joanne earned her associate’s degree

before beginning her lifelong career in medical records/transcription at Deaconess in 1975.

On June 10, 1979 – Joanne’s 28th birthday – she became engaged to the love of her life and husband of 38 years, Philip Howard. The two married on September 29th of that same year, and welcomed their first and only daughter, Stephanie, in June of 1987. In 1991, the Howards moved west to raise their family in Bothell, Washington.

Affectionately nicknamed the Princess of Positivity, Joanne taught her daughter that “God made no junk.” She lived confidently, courageously and unapologetically, and would remind all who knew her of their value and purpose. She will be warmly remembered as perpetually upbeat, fiercely loyal, and sincerely supportive – an animal lover with a gift for gab. She is survived by her loving husband, Phil Howard; her daughter and greatest joy, Stephanie Howard; her dear sister, Darlene Polles (Mick); and her favorite four-legged companion, LuLu.

A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 at Crossway
