Obituaries: Nov. 16, 2017

A memorial service for Ruby B. Perkins, 102, will be on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Garfield Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Dean Walker officiating. Ruby died Nov. 8, 2017 at LaDow Court Assisted Living in Garfield where she made her home for the past three years.

Born July 11, 1915, at Kendrick, Idaho, to John and Emma Nelson, she attended the Silver Country School near Clarkston and graduated from Garfield High School in 1933.

She married Asa W. Perkins Feb. 8, 1935, at Colfax, and they made their home at Garfield. She was a homemaker all her life, and her husband worked as a barber, at a local grain warehouse and was postmaster at Garfield for many years. Mr. Perkins died in 1984.

She was a member of the Garfield Christian Fellowship Church, enjoyed playing pinochle and visiting with her many friends.

Surviving are two sons, Norman Perkins (Darlene) and Jim Perkins, both of Garfield; two daughters, Rosemarie Harlan (Chuck), Sunburst, Mont .; and Dorothy (Dot) Bugh, Colfax; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Hanson, and one great-grandson, Rob Howard.

A graveside service for Wanda Mae Pfaff, 91, was Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Garfield Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Kramer officiating. Mrs. Pfaff died Nov. 10, 2017, at the Tekoa Care Center.

Born July 23, 1926, at Palouse, to Maurice and Mary (Turnbow) St. John, she attended Palouse Schools and graduated from Palouse High School in 1944.

She married Cleve Pfaff Sept. 23, 1945, at Palouse, and they made their home at Garfield where they farmed. Mr. Pfaff died in 2003.

Wanda Mae later moved to the LaDow Court Assisted Living in Garfield, Considerate Care, Avalon Care Center and later the Tekoa Care Center in Tekoa where she had resided for the past three years.

She was a member of the Garfield Christian Fellowship Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship, was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was secretary-treasurer of Garfield Christian Church for several years. Wanda Mae also was a Cub Scout den mother at Garfield. One of her greatest pleasures was working in her flower and vegetable gardens and doing cross stitch projects.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Pfaff (Pamela) of Farmington, Robert “Bob” Pfaff (Dawn) of Potlatch, Idaho, and Roger Pfaff (Theresa) of Garfield; one daughter, Judy (Marc) Watson of Dusty; 15 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Thelma M. Krell Johnson, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at her home north of Tensed, Idaho. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Tekoa Community Church in Tekoa.
