Six Bulldogs head to college for athletics

Four of the six senior athletes will head to Walla Walla

COLFAX - The Colfax Bulldogs senior graduating class of 2024 celebrated Thursday, May 16.

The ceremony celebrated all the graduating seniors who are moving on to other endeavors after high school.

Of the many seniors signing to attend college, trade school or the work force, six seniors signed to participate in collegiate sports as well.

Seth Lusting will play basketball at Walla Walla Community College.

Lustig was the point guard for the Bulldogs, including this past season where he was a leader on the team who went 29-0, winning a state championship for the first time since the 2012-13 season. Lustig also was awarded with an athlete of the week award, First-Team All-League and scored over 1,200 career points in his Colfax career.

Lauryn York will play volleyball for Walla Walla Community College.

York was awarded Co-MVP of the 2B District for her senior year of volleyball. The Bulldogs team went 16-3 overall, leading to a third-place state finish.

JP Wigen and JJ Bodey will play baseball at Walla Walla Community College.

Wigen and Bodey led the Colfax baseball team this past season, where Wigen was primarily the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, and Bodey played center field.

Keilena Nelson will play softball at Columbia Basin College.

Nelson is leading the charge at third base for Colfax currently. The team is pursuing a berth to the state championship tournament.

Harley Hennigar will participate in Rodeo for Blue Mountain College.
