Emma Goddard

The funeral for Emma Goddard, 89, long-time resident of Goldendale, will be held June 9 at 1 p.m. at the Community Grace Brethren Church in Goldendale. The Rev. Greg Howell and the Rev. Dave Caudle, pastor of the Calvary Chapel of the Palouse, will preside.

Mrs. Goddard died May 27, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Garfield. She had made her home with her daughter at Garfield since last October.

Born Nov. 9, 1926, at Molalla, Ore., to Emil G.and Clara A. (Walch) Veelle, she grew up in the Molalla area and attended Mt. Hope School through high school. She was active in 4H and the Lutheran Church.

Her family moved to Goldendale in 1945, and she worked as a waitress at the Eastside Café where she met A.C. (Laddie) Goddard. They were married Nov. 1, 1948, in the Lutheran Church at Klickitat and made their home on a wheat ranch near Roosevelt. Emma worked as a waitress at the Woodgulch Inn in Roosevelt and as a baker and waitress at the Market Street Café in Bickleton. She and Laddie retired to Goldendale in 1998.

She loved to garden, bake, can, crochet, rock hunt and travel. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and took several trips back to Minnesota to retrace her roots. Emma was active as a 4H leader and a member of the Roosevelt Women’s Club and the Sundale Women’s Club. Emma was a 70-year member of the Goldendale Grange.

Mr. Goddard died in 1999.

Surviving are a son, Nicky (Becky) Goddard, Goldendale; daughters Linda (Harlan) Carr , Ephrata and Kathy (Joe) Merry, Garfield; siblings Elmer Veelle, Scio; Albert (Barb) Veelle, Beavercreek, Ore .; Melvin (MaryAnn) Veelle and Clifford (Mary) Veelle, both of Molalla; Larry Veelle (Pam) of Salem, Ore .; Mable Smith, Colton; and Gloria (Bill) Wilcox of John Day, Ore .; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Jacquelyn Joy Romines

Jacquelyn Joy Romines, 74, resident of Colfax since 2000, died at Bishop Place Memory Villas June 5, 2016. A local service is not planned.

Born Aug. 18, 1941, to Parry and Irene Markl Hill in Zortman, Mont., she moved to the Ruby Gulch/St. Ignatius area of Montana, and she was raised on the Flathead Indian Reservation. She often reminisced about growing up “old west” style, riding her horse to school and bringing water to the house from a well. She later moved to Bremerton where she graduated high school in 1958.

She worked in real estate, as a potato inspector and as a merchandising manager for Kmart. Her greatest passion was training horses. She was a skilled crafter and a wonderful cook. She moved to Colfax to be closer to her daughter, Christine (Terry) Parks.

Also surviving are sons Craig Seamans of Bremerton and Brad Seamans of Montana, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Raymond Earl Romjue

The funeral service for Raymond Earl Romjue, 69, Palouse, will be Friday, June 10, at 1 p.m. in the Palouse Federated Church. A memorial service will be later at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Puyallup. Mr. Romjue died May 4, 2016, at his Palouse home.

Born Sept. 18, 1946, in Washington, D.C., to Lt. Col. Kenneth Lee and Norene Botsford Romjue, he was raised in Tacoma where he graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in 1965. He earned bachelor degrees in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, business administration, geology and soils at Washington State University.

While attending WSU, Ray worked at several gas stations and auto repair businesses in Pullman. He also worked at Tacoma City Lights as an engineer. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta and served on the staff for WSU’s Technical Services and also BioSciences departments, fabricating and repairing scientific equipment until he retired Oct. 1, 2009.

He moved to Palouse in 1983.

His hobbies included repairing and restoring vintage tractors and automobiles.

Mr. Romjue married Oralene Cancellare June 18, 1994, at Kamiak Butte.

Survivors include his wife, Oralene; step-son, Jim Cancellare, Medical Lake; brother, Gary S. (Patty) Romjue, Port Townsend; two step-grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Audree N. Schutz

A graveside memorial service for Audree N. Schutz, 87, will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa with the Rev. Kathy Kramer officiating. A drop-in reception for family and friends will follow at the family home, 401 S. Crosby Street, in Tekoa. Mrs. Schutz died March 14.

Born Nov. 23, 1928, at Tekoa to Leonard and Gladys Nunnally Woods, she attended schools in Tekoa, graduated from Tekoa High School in 1946, and attended Kinman Business University in Spokane where she received a degree in bookkeeping.

She and Clyde L. Schutz were married Nov. 23, 1946, at Spokane, and they made their home in Tekoa. He was the owner/manager of Stateline Processors in Tekoa.

She worked at the Sweet Shop in Tekoa for several years and later worked as the bookkeeper for Tekoa Grain Growers and State Line Processors.

Mr Schutz died in December of 1987, and she continued to live in Tekoa until moving to Napavine in 2014 to be near her son, Dan.

Her hobbies included reading and spending time with her grandchildren on the houseboat. She enjoyed playing cards and ceramics. She was also a sorority house mother at Washington State University for several years.

Survivors include her children, Kerry (Sue) Schutz of Mossyrock, Dan (Penny) Schutz of Napavine, Ken (Lea Ann) Schutz of Spokane, and Dianne (Karl) Webber of Tekoa; foster children Bob (Lori) Lindblad of Kissimmee, Fla. and Bob (Lee) Crews of Aurora, Colo .; one sister Joyce Walters of Seattle, and one brother, Evan Woods of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Judy M. Weiker

A memorial service for Judy M. Weiker, 65, will be Saturday, June 18, at 11 a.m. in the Garfield Christian Fellowship with Pastor Dean Walker and Forrest Miller officiating. Mrs. Weiker died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Colfax. A potluck luncheon will be served after the service.

Born June 15, 1950, at Portland to Charles and Marian Clausen Wanless, she attended schools at Portland and in Redding, Calif., where she graduated from the Redding High School in 1968.

She married Roy Weiker May 8, 1971, at Beaverton, and the couple moved to several places and settled in View where they lived for 20 years. While in View, she started a Christian preschool where she was a teacher and administrator for six years.

They moved to Amboy where they lived for the next 15 years. She home schooled her children and operated a home nursery for several years. In 2006, the couple moved to Colfax where they operated Smokin' Papa BBQ for two years and then moved to Garfield in 2008 where they operated Smokin' Papa Café for two years until health reasons forced the couple to close the café in 2011.

She was a member of the Garfield Christian Fellowship at Garfield.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years at the Garfield home; seven sons, Shane Weiker (Christie), Onalaska; Chad Weiker (Michelle), Battleground; Nathan Weiker (Jennifer) , Battleground; Charles Dietel (Jesse), Pine, Ariz .; Jonathon Weiker (Chandra), Cougar; Ronald Weiker, Spokane, and Kane Weiker, Garfield; five daughters, Rebecca Caldwell, Vancouver; Brianna Cook (Josh), Tacoma; Kristie Weiker, Portland; Lindy Weiker and Mandy Weiker, both of Post Falls; one brother, Michael Wanless, Redding, Calif .; 13 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
