Josephine E. Horlacher, 85, former farm woman in the Latah and Rosalia areas, died Dec. 10, 2014, in Spokane. The family plans a celebration of life in early summer.

She was born Jan. 14, 1929, in Kotzebue, Alaska.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Stanley C. Horlacher, now of Coeur d'Alene; three sons, Joe, Bob, and Tom; two daughters, Carrie and Pat, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial donations go to Hospice House in Spokane.

A memorial service for O. Audrene Smith, 98, will be Saturday, Dec. 27, at 3 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Farmington. Urn burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Farmington.

Mrs. Smith died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at Avalon Care Center in Pullman from age-related causes.

Born Ollie Audrene Murphy March 10, 1916, near Hamlin, Texas, to Robert L. and Minnie Weaver Murphy, she attended schools in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. She married Earl T. Curry Dec. 2, 1935, at Post, Texas. The couple made their home in California for many years where she was a homemaker and her husband worked as an auto mechanic. They lived in Wasco, Shafter, St. Helena, Yreka and other California cities where Earl worked for local dealerships. In 1967, they moved to Farmington, and he worked as a mechanic in Colfax, Tekoa and Fairfield. He died in 1990. Audrene continued to live at Farmington.

Audrene married Rollin Smith in 1993, and they lived at Farmington. Rollin died in 1998 in California. Audrene has made her home at Avalon Care Center since March of 2011.

She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at Farmington. She enjoyed gardening, canning garden produce, yard work and cutting firewood. She especially enjoyed picking huckleberries.

Survivors include her daughter, Patty Backman of Kamiah, Idaho; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Grenz.
