Obituaries

A memorial service for Paul James Bennett, 85, Albion, will be Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Albion Community Church. A private graveside service will be later at the Pullman Cemetery. Mr. Bennett died Sept. 3, 2014, at his Albion home.

Born June 10, 1929, in Salem, Ore., to James T. and Barbara Gallaher Bennett, he grew up in Salem, Prosser, Snoqualmie and Spokane, where he graduated from North Central High School in 1947 and later from Whitworth College in 1954.

He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged in 1952. He married Mary Morgan Sept. 7, 1957, in Pullman. They lived in Pullman for a while until moving to Albion where they made their home since that time.

He retired in 1992 following 38 years of service to Washington State University where he first worked as a lab technician and then for the campus environmental services office.

He was a member of the Pullman Foursquare Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, Albion; two daughters Rachelle Bennett and husband Roy Dillahunt of Pullman; Marlene Bennett of Pullman; a son David (Delores) Bennett, Post Falls, Idaho; a sister, Edith Foedish, Spokane, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Paul Bennett.

Funeral services for Patrick John Kane, 70, were Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Tekoa Community Church. Pastor Mark Mewhinney officiated, and burial followed at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.

Mr. Kane died Sept. 2, 2014, at his home on the farm in Rock Creek Valley east of Fairfield.

Born March 14, 1944, at Wenatchee, to Patrick Albert Kane and Anna Laura (Gossett) Kane, he grew up on the Kane family farm between Hartline and Wilson Creek and farmed with his dad most of his life.

He attended Wilson Creek grade school and graduated from Coulee City High School in 1962. He then attended Big Bend and Columbia Basin Community colleges and earned associate degrees in ag mechanics, auto-body and landscaping.

Mr. Lane and Jennie E. Morford were married April 19, 1974, at Tekoa. The couple made their home east of Fairfield where they farmed. They had three sons.

Thirteen years ago he started farming on his own with help from his sons. He continued to farm until health reasons forced him to retire earlier this year.

His hobbies and interests all revolved around farming.

He is survived by his wife Jennie E. Kane, sons Patrick Jay (Sarah) Kane of Tekoa, Jerry Lee Kane of Fairfield, and Weston Cecil (Sarah) Kane of Palouse; four grandchildren; brothers Kenneth (Dee) Kane of Colville and Wayne (Jeanne) Kane of Pasco, and sister Rozanne (Bob) Thompson of Snoqualmie.
