Alexis V. Atchison

Funeral services for Alexis V. (Cookie) Atchison, 64, will be Saturday, May 31, at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Chapel of the Palouse with Pastor Dave Caudle officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Palouse. Mrs. Atchison died Monday afternoon, May 26, 2014, at her home in Palouse.

Born Feb. 14, 1950, at Spokane to Donald and Carol Nolan Aschinger, she attended Garfield schools and graduated from the Garfield High School in 1968. She attended the University of Idaho for a year.

She married Jerry Atchison May 19, 1990, at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and the couple made their home at Palouse. She worked as a cook at Washington State University at the Farmhouse Fraternity and A.G.R. Fraternity for about five years. She later attended Mr. Leon’s School of Hair Design and received her instructor’s certificate in 2008. She taught at the schools in Moscow and Lewiston for about two years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and cake decorating. She loved all animals and enjoyed the Palouse Car Show during Palouse Days in September.

Survivors include her husband of 24 years Jerry Atchison, Palouse; three sons, Rob Atchison, Lewiston; Casey Elder, Palouse; Cary Elder, Lewiston; one brother, Donald Aschinger (Merry), Potlatch; one sister, Billie Wolff (Kirby) Keile, Farmington, and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Calvary Chapel of the Palouse Men’s Shelter, Palouse.

Monique C. McArthur

A memorial service for Monique C. McArthur, 32, former Uniontown resident and a graduate of Colton High School, will be held at the Helen Spencer Trow Room at the Tekoa Retirement Apartments, Sunday, June 1, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Kathy Lee Kramer officiating.

A resident at the Tekoa Care Center for the past four years, Monique died May 19 from multiple sclerosis.

Born Jan. 16, 1982, at Pullman to Arnold and Juanita Cormier Jutte, she grew up in Uniontown. While in grade school, she was a member of the Girl Scout Troop. She attended middle school in the Walla Walla area and high school in Colton. She later moved to the Spokane area where she was married and had two children. She was later divorced. She was a homemaker until her illness forced her to move to the Tekoa Care Center in 2010. She enjoyed listening to music, playing Yahtzee and darts.

Survivors include her two sons, Trevor and Gavin McArthur of Spokane; her mother, Juanita Cormier of Tekoa; her father, Arnold Jutte of Uniontown; her grandmother, Kay Cormier of Pomeroy; her lifelong friend, Alicea Jones of Wyoming.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Tekoa Care Center, Tekoa, or to the Hutton Settlement, 9907 E. Wellesley, Spokane, 99206.

Joyce E. Stubbs

A memorial service for Joyce E. Stubbs, 79, was Saturday, May 24, 2014, 1 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Princeton, Idaho, with the Rev. Kathy Kramer officiating. Mrs. Stubbs died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.

Born July 18, 1934, at Princeton, to Charles and Edna Humiston West, she attended the Hatter Creek and Princeton schools and graduated from Potlatch High School in 1952.

She married Eugene Stubbs Aug. 2, 1958, at Princeton, and they made their home there. She worked as a bookkeeper for many area businesses and retired in 1996 from Plummer & Wagner at the Potlatch Junction.

She loved horses and was a member of the Cayuse Kids Saddle Club. She also enjoyed camping.

Survivors include her husband, at the Princeton home, a daughter, Jolene Stubbs, Spokane, and one grandson.

Memorials may be given to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, ID.
