Carol Putzier

The funeral for Carol Joyce Putzier, 75, former resident of Endicott, was Saturday, May 8, at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, Idaho. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. She died Monday, May 3, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

Born Dec. 26, 1934, in Pinedale, Wyo., to John and Laurel Thompson, she moved with her family to the Spirit Lake area of north Idaho and graduated from Spirit Lake High School. She worked for the FBI in Washington, DC, and then returned to Idaho. She and Marvin Putzier were married in Priest River, Idaho, March 18, 1956. They settled in Coeur d’Alene and later at nearby Dalton Gardens where they raised and trained thoroughbred racehorses.

They later moved to the Endicott area and continued in the horse racing business. She worked for many years at Endicott Drug and enjoyed following their children’s activities.

After they retired, they traveled with the horses to racetracks throughout Washington, Oregon, Montana and Canada. Carol made many friends along the way. She enjoyed reading, fishing, betting on the horses, and spending time with her four grandchildren.

Mr. Putzier died in 2004.

Surviving are four children Marvol (Sam) Barnard of Green Valley, Ariz .; Lisa (Van) Raris of Tremont, Pa .; Marvin Jr. (Tammy) Edgewood, and Colin, Kennewick; sisters Marjorie Brown, Janet Pederson and Judy Sensintaffer, and brothers Sidney Thompson, Gaylord Thompson, and Jack Thompson, and four grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made to Community Services for the Blind or the American Diabetes Association.
