  • Soup packets made in record time

    Homestead Ministries had a multi-church event making 3,000 soup ingredient bags in a record time of two-and-a-half hours last week. The soup bags are going to local food banks and food banks in central Washington state, as well as 1,500 to Zimbabwe via Texas. Organizers were grateful to all those who came and participated.     A work day has been scheduled at the Dusty Cemetery beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday, May 20. Please bring weed eaters, shovels, rakes, etc. At Dusty B.B.     Tick infestation has been so high along the Alkali Flat creeks that cattle health has been affected. Many of the ranchers have been treating their herds with a dip that helps alleviate the problem. This is an unusually high infestation due to spring conditions.     A large number of Dusty area residents attended the public hearing for the McCoy permit request for a grain storage facility immediately across Highway 26 from Dusty on Thursday evening of last week. Richard Scheuerman presented “Harvest Heritage,” a lecture on “The Story of Humanity in Farm Paintings.” The Libey Gallery hosted the display of 12 originals, first editions and reprints depicting harvest and grain scenes from the 16th century to the present.
