    POMEROY — The St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles girls basketball team suffered a hard loss in Pomeroy 65-30 on Dec. 11. The first quarter of the game was as close as it would get with the Pirates leading the Eagles 7-4.     ST. JOHN — The St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles boys basketball team is off to a 3-1 season start. The Eagles’ first victory was against the Wilbur-Creston-Keller Wildcats on Dec. 3. SJEL won 40-29. Eagle Tanner Fleming was the high scorer with 27 points, according to SJEL Coach Michael Stubbs. The second win of the season was on Dec. 7 against the Touchet Indians.     CHATTAROY — The Colfax Bulldogs girls basketball team traveled to Chattaroy to defeat the Riverside Rams 48-30 on Dec. 10 and the Clarkston Bantams on Dec. 7. The Bulldogs jumped off to good start leading the Rams 22-10 at halftime. The second half was close with Colfax outscoring Riverside by 3 points in both quarters for a final 48-030 victory.     TEKOA — The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves chewed up the Colton Wildcats boys basketball team 59-18 on Dec. 10. Tekoa-Rosalia (5-1) came on strong offensively leading Colton 43-11 at halftime.     SPRINGDALE - A Tekoa-Rosalia wrestler won two matches during a dual meet at Mary Walker High School on Dec. 11. Wrestling at 145 pounds, freshman Alexis Taylor pinned both of her opponents in the second round. In her first bout, she wrestled Brianna Smith, of Mary Walker.     OLYMPIA — Washington Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Commissioner Fred Koontz resigned bring the total of open positions to two. Koontz sent a letter today to Gov. Jay Inslee resigning his at-large position of the Fish and Wildlife Commission.     OLYMPIA - The state Supreme Court declined to redraw new legislative and congressional maps. The decision follows an attempt by the Redistrict Commission to reapportion the state in the wake of the 2020 Census. It means that the maps previously submitted will likely be the establishing documents for new legislative and congressional districts.     ENDICOTT - An overloaded power outlet started a fire in an Endicott home on Monday, causing extensive damage. Whitman County Fire District 6 responded to a neighbor's 9-1-1 call at 1:12 p.m. to report seeing smoke coming from the two-story house at 200 Church Street, said Secretary Steve Lawrence.   • Universities give $1 million toward Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport

    PULLMAN - The Washington State University (WSU) and the University of Idaho (UoI) are donating $1 million for a new terminal at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport. The two universities pledged the money following donations from the cities of Moscow and Pullman. WSU is contributing $600,000. UoI is pledging $400,000.
