    WHITMAN COUNTY — The winter sports season is officially underway in Whitman County. Tekoa-Rosalia, Oakesdale, Garfield-Palouse, Colton, and St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse all will have boys basketball teams this season. The only school to not have girls basketball in 2023-24 is the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles. They had four girls show up on the first day and will not have a team.     COLFAX — The Washington Supreme Court has stayed the ruling from the Whitman County Courthouse in Colfax, which granted Washington State University (WSU) and Oregon State University (OSU) control of the Pac-12 conference. A temporary restraining order will remain in place, requiring the conference to act as a whole.     OAKESDALE — The Oakesdale Nighthawks volleyball team will have a new outside hitter next season, replacing Payton Davis, who has been a starter on the team since her eighth grade season.     COLFAX - Perkins House Volunteer Jill Gfeller was fighting a bad case of COVID-19 when she came across a rare set of historical dolls on eBay. Gfeller explained that the dolls were created by four sisters from Independence, Missouri, who had an uncle named William Webbe, the first illustrator for the author Charles Dickens, inspiring "The Original Dickens Dolls," handmade in the 1940s and 1950s.
