Rebecca Dempsey, senior student parent, lead the step-by-step instructions of painting fall leaves.     Micke Fe Hopkins, 65, died Oct. 31, 2017, at Whitman Hospital in Colfax after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born Feb. 8, 1952, in Ritzville, to Floyd E. and Joan Hawks Hopkins, he was raised in Colfax and attended school in Steptoe. During the 1970s, Micke lived in Seattle where he worked as a planer at a sawmill. He was born with Williams Syndrome, a developmental disorder that affects many parts of the body.     Colfax Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in troops 550 and 595 will collect food bags for their annual Scouting for Food Drive starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. The scouts distributed the bags last Saturday. Canned fruits and vegetables and personal hygiene items are sought for the drive. Residents are asked to place donations in the bags and put them on front doors for collection.     Lacrosse LaCrosse FFA soils judging team won the state title last week. This qualifies a team of four to compete at the nationals at Oklahoma in May. Team members were Allyn Harder, T.J. Among the volunteers pictured are Rosalia Mayor Nan Konishi, Father Mike Savelesky of Holy Rosary Parish and Deacon Rick Jones of the Baptist church, all who were leaders in the effort to bring the pantry back to the community.
