Shannon grew up on a cattle ranch in Hooper, Washington.   • New website coming to Whitman County in 2020

    The motion was passed by the county commissioners, Monday, Nov. 4, to authorize the County Information Technology Director, Lance Bishop, to purchase a new website and its services. Craig Wines, county network administrator, explained in the Monday commissioner workshop the website provider has a four month installation time frame from start to finish.   • Honor quilts set for veterans

    Quilts of Valor will be presented to 12 veterans Friday, Nov. 8, in a ceremony at Steptoe School. The quilts have been made by quilters in the Colfax area as part of the national Quilts of Valor program. They have been coordinated by Margo Balzarini at the Palouse River Quilts shop in Colfax. Each quilt is custom designed and made. Diana King said the veterans have all indicated they will be at Steptoe School for the observance.     Palouse Empire Fair Administrator Bill Tensfeld reported to the fair board Oct. 28 that he has made arrangements with supplier of the fair's new grandstand to seal off "cubby holes" which resulted from installation of the fair's new grandstand last summer. The cubby holes beneath the grandstand appeared after installation of the three middle stairwells in the structure's design.     Two charges of third degree assault and a third charge of harassment were filed Oct. 30 in superior court against Veronica Qingzhao Fan, 19, Pullman. The charges allege Fan hit occupants of an apartment with a tennis racket. According to the Pullman Police report, officers responded Oct. 10 at about 8:20 p.m. to a report of an alleged assault at an apartment on Terre View Drive.
