    COLFAX— The two suspects facing charges of two drunk driving incidents during the Webb’s Slough Spring Boat Races on June 17 faced Whitman County District Court Thursday, Aug. 24, for plea agreements. Tanner D. Berzett, 23, of Asotin, was arrested for two counts of felony vehicular assault and drunk driving, reports show.   • Hooper Bridge to be rebuilt

    WINONA — The Hooper Bridge, a wooden trestle bridge destroyed during the Winona Fire the weekend of Aug. 19-20, is set to be replaced with a steel and concrete trestle. State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Janet Matkin said the replacement of the 197-foot bridge near Winona is estimated at a preliminary cost of $2.8 to $3.5 million.     COLFAX — The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office is ruling that the Chipman Trail fire resulted from arson, confirmed by Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers. In an Aug. 24 report, the Sheriff’s Office said at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, a blaze at a wooden bridge near Milepost 1.5 on the trail is believed to have been intentionally set by two boys who live in Moscow, Idaho.   • Colfax Events Center nearly 80 percent complete

    COLFAX - Construction on the events center located at the Colfax Golf Course is nearly 80 percent complete. Co-Project Manager Allen Kirkpatrick said that the events center, which began construction last June, has had approximately $460,000 expended on it so far. Kirkpatrick said an additional $120,000 is needed to finish the project, noting that it may run a little bit more than that.
