Hooper Bridge to be rebuilt

WINONA — The Hooper Bridge, a wooden trestle bridge destroyed during the Winona Fire the weekend of Aug. 19-20, is set to be replaced with a steel and concrete trestle.
State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Janet Matkin said the replacement of the 197-foot bridge near Winona is estimated at a preliminary cost of $2.8 to $3.5 million.
The bridge handles approximately 2,600 rail cars annually, Matkin said.
