Colton baseball still win less through six games

Lost three home games in a row, allowed 54 runs

COLTON - The Colton Wildcats played three home games last week, where the team lost all three.

Colton took on the Dayton Bulldogs on Tuesday, March 26, in Colton, for a game where the Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats 12-2.

Dayton scored seven runs combined through the first two innings, which helped the Bulldogs defeat Colton.

The Wildcats scored their two runs in the game in the fourth inning.

Ryan Impson had the start for the Wildcats on the mound. He pitched three innings, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits with two walks. He also struck out four batters in the game.

Impson was replaced by Tanner Baerlocher, who pitched the final two innings for the Wildcats.

In his two innings, Baerlocher allowed five earned runs on seven hits with no walks. He also struck out a team-high five batters.

On the offensive end, Colton scored their two runs on five hits. Dakota Cook led the way with two hits in three at-bats. The RBIs came from Brennan Schlee, who had one hit in two at-bats.

The next games of the week for the Wildcats were played on Friday, March 29, for a double-header against the Pomeroy Pirates.

The games were played in Colton, with the Pirates shutting out the Wildcats 23-0 in the first game, which lasted five innings.

Pomeroy scored six runs in the second, five in the fourth and 11 in the fifth inning.

Baerlocher pitched the first four innings for Colton. He allowed 12 runs on 12 hits with four walks. He would strikeout seven batters in the game.

Duke Chalmers pitched one-third of an inning for Colton, allowing six runs on four hits with two walks.

Jake Moehrle pitched the remaining two-thirds of the inning, allowing five runs on seven hits with a walk.

Colton did not record a hit in the game.

The final game in the series with Pomeroy resulted in a 19-1 victory for Pomeroy.

The Pirates scored seven runs in both the second and fourth innings as the game ended in the fifth.

Hayden Purnell pitched the first four innings, allowing 12 runs on four hits with nine walks.

The lone run came off an RBI from Silas Nollmeyer.

The next game for Colton is against Pomeroy again, this time on Tuesday, April 9, in Pomeroy.
