Two Colfax Little Guy wrestlers strike gold

COLFAX - Two Colfax Bulldog wrestlers took first place in their weight class at the Jason Crawford Wrestling Memorial Tournament, taking place on Saturday, March 30.

For Colfax, 16 wrestlers competed, with two taking home first-place awards.

At 41 pounds, Devin Hall won his opening round match for Colfax by fall in :27 against Ryder Arreguin of Wenatchee Valley Mat Cats Wrestling. Hall lost the semifinal round by major decision against Tristyn Garza of Othello Little Guy Wrestling, 9-0.

After a decision win against Bruno Ramirez of Warden Elite Wrestling, 8-4, Hall lost the third place match by fall in 1:52 to Seth Vachakone of Reactor Wrestling Club.

Wrestling at 55/56 pounds was Kade Garcia, who lost the first match by fall in :27 to Graysen Ingraham of Freeman Mat Dawgs, then would lose by fall in :17 to Jacob Velasquez of Tonasket Tigers Wrestling.

Mak Keck wrestled for Colfax in the 76-81 division, he won his opening round game by fall in :33 against Ridge Franz of Colville Mat Rats.

After the win, Keck won in his semifinal round match by fall in :14 against Dawson Ough of Mt. Adams Wrestling Club.

In the championship match, Keck was victorious, claiming the victory by fall in 2:33 against Hunter McDaniel of Tri-Town Bullyz Wrestling.

Logan Keen wrestled in the 46-48 division. He lost his opening round match by fall in 1:25 against Miguel Rocha of Young Suns Wrestling Club, then lost by decision against Brantley Boyd of Liberty Little Guy Wrestling, 6-3.

In the 57 Pound B Division, Chase Hardy lost his opening match by decision against Quinn Osborne of Lakeside Little Guy Wrestling, 9-2, then lost by fall in 2:13 to Luka Draggoo of Omak Wrecking Crew Wrestling.

In the 60 Pound B Division, Lucius Taylor opened his day for Colfax with a decision loss against Owen Steinshouer, 8-6.

Following the loss, Taylor won by technical fall against Ryder Hoover of Team Newport Tornadoes Wrestling Club, 19-3. He then win in tie breaker against Vincent Reisenauer of Burbank Wrestling Club, 12-1.

Julius Taylor wrestled for Colfax in the 61-62 division. He lost his opening match by decision against Jaxson Gingras-McAny of West Valley (Spokane) Wrestling Club, 7-4.

He then won his consolation match by major decision against Harley Smitherman of Inland Northwest Wrestling Training Center, 11-3.

During the consolation semifinal round, he would fall by decision against Jaime Tovar of Tri-Town Bullyz Wrestling, 7-2.

Noble Solbrack scored four team points for Colfax in the 71-73 division. His day started with a win by fall in :38 against Matthew Gabbard of Selah Storm Wrestling.

Solbrack then lost by fall in 2:31 to Brooks Shelton of EKU Wrestling, then lost by fall in 1:53 to Boone Tribbett of Freeman Mat Dawgs.

Avery Pettit scored four team points in the 105-115 pound division for Colfax. His first match was a victory by fall in 1:36 against Josiah Webb of Reactor Wrestling Club.

Pettit would then lose by fall in 2:35 to Ryder Acord of Springdale Knights Wrestling, before winning by decision against Levi Matson of West Valley Yakima Wrestling Club.

In the third-place match, Pettit would lose by fall in 1:51 to Mason Marchand of Freeman Mat Dawgs.

During the girls 62-65 division, Ella Nelson placed second, scoring 16 team points for Colfax. Her opening match was a victory by fall in 1:43 to Abigail Craven of EKU Wrestling.

The semifinal round saw Nelson win by decision against Jewelz Perez of Othello Little Guy Wrestling, 7-1, advancing her to the final.

In the final, Nelson would fall by decision against Alizae Martinez of Mat Rattlers (Tri-Cities), 1-0.

The 54-56 9/10 division saw Blake Mathia win the quarterfinal match up by forfeit, then would lose by fall in 1:50 to Wyatt Larsen Republic Mat Club.

During the consolation semifinal, Mathia would lose by major decision against Steven Cavazos Harris of Quincy Regulator Wrestling, 17-3.

Jackson Nelson wrestled in the 9/10, 70-72 Pound Division, scoring 18 team points with his first place finish.

Nelson took down Dayvien Salazar of Warden Elite Wresling by decision in the opening round, 1-0, then earned another decision victory in the semifinal round against Ander King of Republic Mat Club.

The championship match saw Nelson win by decision against Joshua Sarabia of Granger Pit Pups Wrestling, 7-6.

Aiden Hardy took fourth for Colfax in the 9/10, 74-77 Pound Division.

After an opening round loss by major decision, Hardy would win by fall in :45 against Wyatt Jones of Richland Bombers Wrestling.

The consolation semifinal round saw Hardy win by fall in :30 against Alexander Arnold of Tekoa Timberwolves Little Guys, before losing in the third-place match to Xavier Aparicio of Granger Pit Pups Wrestling.

Brodey Starrett took third for Colfax in the 9/10, 80-82 Pound Division. His day started with a first round loss by fall in 2:37 to Romeo Cortez of Connell Wrestling Club.

Starrett then won his next match by decision against Wyatt Markus of Ellensburg Wrestling Club, 6-2.

Starrett would fall in the third-place match in :48 against Noah Atkins of Keller Bobcats Wrestling.

Cassius Taylor wrestled in the 118-126 division. His day opened with a victory by fall in 1:41, then a loss by fall in :27 to Jax Glisson of Lind-Ritzville Marmots Wrestling.

Following the loss for Taylor was a loss by fall in 1:53 during the consolation semifinal round to Ty Harmon of Omak Wrecking Crew Wrestling.

Wrestling in the 118-122 Pound Division was Kellen Mathia. He would start his day with a victory by fall in 1:31 against Brayden Elliott of Reardan Renegades Wrestling, before losing by decision against Xavier Charvet of Grandview Popeye, 6-4.

Mathia won his consolation semifinal round by fall in 1:00 against Edward Peyser of Naches Tough Guy Wrestling, then would win the third-place match by major decision against Devan Simmons of Kettle Falls Mat Dogs, 13-0.
