Bulldogs look to have bounce back week in all sports

Matches come after hard Homecoming game losses

COLFAX — The Colfax Bulldogs have had a less than ideal first month or so of sports in both football and volleyball, but both teams have chances to return to standard this upcoming week.

The Bulldogs football team (0-3) will be on the road this week for the first time this season. All three of their previous games so far this season have been played in Colfax. This time, the Bulldogs will travel to Reardan to take on the Screaming Eagles. The game is set to kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22. The game is starting early due to a lack of available officials in the area.

The Screaming Eagles are currently 1-2 on the season. Their lone win came against Lake Roosevelt on the first game of the year for the Screaming Eagles. Their most recent game was a 14-7 loss against Chewelah.

The Bulldogs defeated Reardan last season by a score of 20-7. Reardan has not defeated Colfax in football since the 2019-20 season.

In volleyball, the Bulldogs are coming off a week where they defeated Upper Columbia Academy Tuesday, Sept. 12, defeated Clarkston Thursday, Sept. 14, but had a rough game against Ferris Saturday, Sept. 16, losing in four sets.

The Bulldogs will be home on Thursday, Sept. 21, as they host the Liberty (Spangle) Lancers. The game is set to start at 6:30 p.m.

Also this week the Bulldogs will take on the Pullman Greyhounds, who finished fourth in state for the 2A playoffs last season. The game will be played in Pullman on Saturday, Sept. 23, and is set to start at 11:30 a.m.

The Greyhounds will arguably be the toughest opponent for the Bulldogs so far this season, being a 2A school competing against a 2B school.

The Bulldogs will also play a game Tuesday, Sept. 26, an away game against Kettle Falls. First serve for that game is set for 6:30 p.m.

Also this week will be the Colfax cross country team. They will compete Friday, Sept. 22, in the Hawk Invite, taking place in Walla Walla. They are the only Whitman County team traveling to compete in the invite. The first high school race is set to start at 4 p.m.
