Palouse offers 'rebate' for lifeguards

PALOUSE — The city has a shortage of lifeguards necessary to operate the swimming pool this summer.

To attract lifeguards, the city is offering a $100 certification rebate at the end of the summer for those who seek lifeguard certification now and work all summer.

Certification classes are being offered at Washington State University, University of Idaho and Pullman Aquatic Center, officials said. Lifeguards are required to be at least 15 years old.
