Eagles win medals at Ephrata

Ray Cross Invitational drew attracts 31 teams

EPHRATA - The St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse track team finished respectably at the Ray Cross Invitational on Saturday, March 26.

The Eagles boys finished 12th and the girls 22nd overall; 31 teams participated in the meet. St. John-Endicott was among the smallest.

Richland dominated the girls division with 160.74 points, followed by Kennewick with 84. The local girls earned 2.5 points.

In boys competitions, North Central (Spokane Valley) led the way with 93 team points, followed by host Ephrata with 81 and Kennewick with 79. The Eagles boys earned 12 team points.

In almost every event, Eagles teammates posted personal records.

Some brought home medals.

In boys events, Eagles senior Ryan Anderson set a personal record in the boys 300 meter hurdles, finishing in 45.51 seconds and bringing home a sixth place medal.

Senior Matthew Logen medaled, too, with a sixth place finish in pole vault, clearing 10-foot-6.

Senior Sophie Larsen medaled in girls pole vault, where she set her personal record at 7-foot to tie for the sixth-place medal with Ivy Delay of Royal.

In other events, Eagles did well, too.

Boys events

Junior William Hubert finished 24th in the 300-meter hurdles in 1:06.97.

Logen broke into the Top 10 in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 18.90. Hubert finished 20th with a time of 25.84.

Junior Wyatt Schwartz set a personal record in the 100 meter, finishing 41st overall with a time of 15.84 seconds.

In the 200 meter, sophomore Trey Seubert led the way for the eagles with a time of 33.10 seconds for 41st place. Schwartz was right behind him in 42nd place with a time of 34.79 seconds.

Sophomore Tucker Taylor set his personal record in the 400 meter with a time of 1:10.45, good enough for 36th place. Seubert finished 39th in the event with a time of 1:17:54.

Juniors Logan Marconi and Rory Maloney posted personal records in the 800 meter while also breaking into the Top 20. Marconi was 15th overall in 2:17.96 and Maloney was 17th in 2:19.96.

In field events, senior Mason Pitts set a personal record in the shot put with a toss of 27-09.5 inches, a personal record good enough for 32nd place.

Pitts also threw the javelin 87-0 for 30th place and a personal record.

In discus, Anderson threw for 104-0, a personal record that earned him 10th place. Teammate sophomore Landen Miller threw for 95-04.5 inches, a personal record that landed him in 17th.

Maloney set a personal record in the high jump, clearing 5-02 and finishing tied for 16th place with Wilbur-Creston's Lanny Strozyk.

Anderson took seventh place in pole vault topping out at 10-0.

In the long jump, Marconi set his personal record at 17-03.5 inches, and finished 19th.

In the triple jump, Logen finished 7th with 37-02.75 and Maloney 17th with 34-09.50.

In the boys 4X100 meter relay, Seubert, Taylor Hubert and Miller combined for a time of 55.86 seconds and 18th place.

And in the boys 4X400, Marconi, Maloney, Logen and Anderson finished seventh overall in a time of 3:52.65. They were the only Class 1B team to break into the Top 10.

Girls events

For the girls, senior Sophie Larson set her personal record in the 100 meter at 16.07 seconds.

Teammate senior Hailee Marty cleared 6 foot in pole vault for a personal record and a 10th-place tie with Natalie Amundson of Richland.

In the girls 400, freshman Emery Molina finished 30th overall with a time of 1:17.02, a personal record.

In the girls 4X100, sophomore Cami Larsen, Sophie Larsen, Molina and Julie Guske finished in 1:02.09, good enough for 14th overall. And in the girls 4X200, the same girls finished 12th overall in 2:14.36.

In field events, Marty finished 24th in girls shot put with a personal record of 25 feet, 9.50 inches. Teammate Morgan Rounsville finished 41st with a toss of 17-00.75.

Marty finished 11th in the girls discus, with a throw of 85-2.50, a personal record. She also took 13th in the girls javelin, with a flight of 81-07.

Teammate Cami Larsen finished 21st in girls javelin with a flight of 71-03.

In high jump, Molina cleared 4-foot for a 22nd place finish.

In long jump, Cami Larsen finished 33rd with a leap of 12-06.50.

Guske finished 18th in triple jump, with a leap of 26-05.50.
